Diploma of Cosmetic Tattoo-SHB50321

Whether you’re brand new to the world of cosmetic tattooing or already have some experience, the fully accredited Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing is designed to support you at every stage. No prior tattooing experience is required—this course takes you from the very basics right through to advanced techniques, ensuring you build a solid foundation in both skill and confidence.

You’ll learn everything from hygiene and safety, to brow mapping, pigment selection, and hands-on application, all under the guidance of a qualified trainer and assessor. By the end of the program, you’ll have the knowledge and practical experience needed to launch your career as a fully qualified, accredited cosmetic tattoo artist.

Already experienced? Fast-track your qualification with RPL!

If you’re an established artist with over 3 years experience and already working in cosmetic tattooing, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This process allows you to have your existing skills and experience formally assessed, so you can achieve your diploma sooner and without repeating what you already know. It’s a fantastic option for artists seeking full accreditation and industry legitimacy.

Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments - HLTINF005

Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and infection control is essential in cosmetic tattooing and all skin penetration treatments. The HLTINF005 unit—Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments—is a nationally recognised certification that covers the critical skills and knowledge required to prevent and control infection risks in a clinical setting.

This qualification ensures that practitioners:

- Understand the principles of infection prevention and control

- Follow safe work practices to protect both clients and themselves

- Correctly clean, disinfect, and sterilise equipment and work areas

- Manage waste and handle sharps safely

- Comply with all relevant health regulations and industry standards

Holding HLTINF005 is a requirement for anyone performing skin penetration procedures in Queensland. It demonstrates a commitment to client safety, professionalism, and legal compliance.

COURSE STRUCTURE

  • Cosmetic Tattooing also known as permanent makeup has increased rapidly in recent years as more and more women seek to enhance their natural features with less fuss. Cosmetic tattooing is most commonly used to define eyebrows, define and bold eyeliner, enhance lip liner. This course provides the skills and knowledge required to penetrate the skin with pigments in order to achieve cosmetic tattoos on the face and body.

  • HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments certificate.

    This course is available to study at The Perfect Arch Academy.

  • Basic Language, literacy and numeracy skills in English (LLN)

  • The course covers the theory and practice associated with:

    • Cosmetic Fundamentals

    • Shading and Ombre Eyebrows

    • The art of Lip Blush

    • Eyeliner Technique

  • In person with hands-on learning and practical skills. Theoretical components, Powerpoint Presentations and resources are provided.

  • The course runs over 5-7 days of in-person, practical training. After completion, you’ll have access to ongoing support for a full year - including zoom meetings and the option to book shadow sessions.

  • Our support staff are available to students and potential students who require support during office hours via email or phone.
